How the Resortings score works
We score things to do out of 10, counting what the resort itself offers: activity programs, marinas, bikes, courts, campfires, spas and organized sessions for kids. It’s our own judgment from visiting, not a Disney figure, and it’s one of the things we weigh when we score all 32 resorts.
- The average is 7.1 out of 10. Only the two Fort Wilderness sites reach 10, and only Coronado Springs and Animal Kingdom Lodge with its two villa buildings reach 9.
- Price and activities barely line up. The cheapest place on property ties for first, while the Polynesian, at about $872 a night, scores 6.
- Estimated, and we say so. This score is our judgment, not a Disney figure. Prices are an average of three snapshots of Disney’s own rates.
- It’s one input of many. Tell Resortings this is what matters and the order changes. Tell it the parks matter more, and these three drop away fast.

Two resorts score 10: the Fort Wilderness Campsites and the Cabins on the same site. Four score 9: Coronado Springs, and Animal Kingdom Lodge with its two villa buildings. At the other end, Caribbean Beach and Pop Century score 4, the lowest on property. Activities tend to live where there’s land, which is why the campground and the sprawling resorts lead and the Values don’t.
What a day at Fort Wilderness is really like. Archery in the morning, pony rides before lunch, an afternoon swim, then the campfire with Chip and Dale and a movie on an outdoor screen. We’ve done that day twice, and neither time did anyone ask to go to a park.
Coronado Springs is the grown-up version. A painting class in the afternoon, Sangria University before dinner, and Toledo on the roof after. No tent required.
Your family will rank these differently
Ages, budget, room size and which parks you’re doing all change the order. Resortings scores all 32 resorts against what your family actually needs, and tells you when not to spend the money.

Common questions
Which Disney resort has the most activities?
The Fort Wilderness Campsites and Cabins, which share a site and both score 10 out of 10. The list is the longest at Disney World: archery, horses, carriage rides, fishing and a nightly campfire.
Do the cheap Disney resorts have activities?
Fewer than you’d think. The All-Star resorts score between 5.5 and 6.5 out of 10 and Art of Animation 7, all with arcade tournaments, silent discos, glow parties and nightly movies. The big exception is the Fort Wilderness Campsites: the cheapest place on property, and tied for first for activities.
Is there horseback riding at Disney World?
Yes, at the Tri-Circle-D Ranch at Fort Wilderness, along with pony rides for younger kids and wagon and carriage rides. You don’t have to be staying there to book.
Which resort is best for a rainy day?
Saratoga Springs is a good bet: its community hall runs animation classes, tie-dye and dance parties indoors, and there’s a full spa. Coronado Springs has indoor classes and plenty of restaurants to fill an afternoon too.
