How long each Disney World park actually takes
Waiting in line standby for every ride we have measured, with the walking between them. The waits are typical posted waits we recorded ourselves, not a forecast, and the ride time is the ride rather than the wait. Against an eleven-hour day, doing all four parks properly comes to 51h 12m, which is 4.7 full days in the parks before a single meal, nap or afternoon storm.
| Park | Rides measured | Waiting in line | Riding | Walking | Total | Of an 11-hour day |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Magic Kingdom | 29 | 14h 10m | 2h 39m | 2h 54m | 19h 43m | 179% |
| EPCOT | 14 | 8h 20m | 1h 18m | 1h 24m | 11h 2m | 100% |
| Hollywood Studios | 9 | 10h 25m | 53m | 54m | 12h 12m | 111% |
| Animal Kingdom | 10 | 6h 10m | 1h 5m | 1h | 8h 15m | 75% |
Magic Kingdom is the one that does not fit: 19h 43m of standby against an eleven-hour day. That is the arithmetic behind every argument about rope drop, Lightning Lane and whether a park needs two days, and it is why the answer changes with which rides you actually care about rather than being one number for everyone.
Common questions
How many days do you need at Disney World?
To wait standby for every ride we have measured across the four parks takes about 51h 12m, which is 4.7 eleven-hour days before food or rest. Most families do not ride everything, so the honest answer depends on your list: the planner on this page adds up the rides you actually pick.
Which Disney World park takes the longest?
Magic Kingdom, at about 19h 43m for 29 measured rides -- 179% of an eleven-hour day. The shortest is Animal Kingdom at about 8h 15m.
Do you need two days at Magic Kingdom?
By this arithmetic yes, if you want to ride everything: 19h 43m of waiting in line and riding does not fit an eleven-hour day. One day covers it if you are selective, rope-drop the longest line and skip the rest.
Where do these times come from?
Our own readings. The waits were recorded by hand across four sweeps in a single day and stored as the highest reading of that day, not an average, because early-morning readings understate a park badly. Nothing here comes from a third party.
