The cheapest Disney World resorts

The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort seen from outside
The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort, the resort this guide picks.

The short answer

The cheapest place to stay at Walt Disney World, on our numbers, is The Campsites at Fort Wilderness Resort at about $124 a night, but that’s a campsite: you bring the tent or the camper. The cheapest actual room is All-Star Sports Resort at about $170, against an average of about $549 across the property. Here are the cheapest twelve of the 32 we have a rate for, and the last column shows what a bigger budget usually buys you out of: the bus.

What the Value resorts give up

Take a look at the last column. Most Value resorts get to every park by bus and nothing else, and a bus scores 3 to 5 out of 10 with us, against 9 or 10 for a walk or the monorail. But there are two exceptions worth knowing about: Pop Century and Art of Animation are Value resorts on the Skyliner, so they get to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios without a bus, at a Value price. That’s the best deal on transport for your money on property.

The other thing you give up in a Value room is space. Most standard rooms at these prices sleep four, so a family of five is either paying for two rooms or moving up to a room that sleeps five, and that changes the math completely. That’s exactly why the tool filters on room size.

When you go moves the price too

Every resort on this list is cheaper in some weeks than others, and the swing over a year is big enough to change which price level you can afford. A Value resort in a peak week can cost more than a Moderate in a quiet one, so the cheapest resort and the cheapest trip aren’t always the same thing. We priced the same room every week for a year from Disney's own rates: what a Disney World resort costs, month by month.

How the Resortings score works

Every resort is scored out of ten on how it reaches each park, using the fastest route Disney actually runs: a walk, the monorail, the Skyliner, a boat or a bus. The number is the route, not the distance on a map, because a resort a mile away on a bus is further in practice than one two miles away on a monorail. Nobody pays to appear here and we take no booking commissions.

Your family will rank these differently

Ages, budget, room size and which parks you are doing all change the order. Resortings scores all 32 resorts against what your family actually needs, and tells you when not to spend the money.

Common questions

What is the cheapest Disney World resort?

The Campsites at Fort Wilderness Resort, at about $124 a night before tax, though that’s a campsite, not a room. The cheapest room on property is All-Star Sports Resort at about $170. Rates move with the season, the room type and any discount that’s running, so use both for planning, not as a quote.

Are the cheap Disney resorts worth it?

The money you save is real, and what you usually give up is time getting to the parks. If your days are mostly EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, a Skyliner Value resort gives up very little. If they’re mostly Magic Kingdom, the cheapest resorts are all a bus.

Do these prices include tickets?

No. These are room rates only, before tax. Disney packages bundle rooms and tickets together, so a package quote won’t match these numbers line for line.
