The Disney World Skyliner resorts

The short answer

Four Walt Disney World resorts are on the Skyliner, Disney’s gondola system. It goes to two parks, EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, and that’s it: Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom are a bus from all four. Caribbean Beach Resort scores highest, because it’s the hub every other line runs through.

Scores are out of ten and describe the route, not the distance on a map. Nightly rates are standard rates before tax.

Why the four scores aren’t the same

Caribbean Beach is the hub. Every other Skyliner line runs through it, so from there both parks are one ride, and it scores 9 out of 10 for each. The Riviera is on the EPCOT line and scores 9 for EPCOT, but getting to Hollywood Studios means changing at Caribbean Beach, so it scores 6. Pop Century and Art of Animation share a station at the far end and change for both parks, so they both come out at 6 and 6.

That makes the Skyliner a real bargain: Pop Century and Art of Animation are Value resorts, and they get to two parks without a bus, which no other Value resort can say. If EPCOT and Hollywood Studios are most of your park days, this is the cheapest way to skip the bus line.

How the Resortings score works

Every resort is scored out of ten on how it reaches each park, using the fastest route Disney actually runs: a walk, the monorail, the Skyliner, a boat or a bus. The number is the route, not the distance on a map, because a resort a mile away on a bus is further in practice than one two miles away on a monorail. Nobody pays to appear here and we take no booking commissions.

Your family will rank these differently

Ages, budget, room size and which parks you are doing all change the order. Resortings scores all 32 resorts against what your family actually needs, and tells you when not to spend the money.

Common questions

Which Disney resorts are on the Skyliner?

Four: Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Riviera Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Art of Animation.

Which parks does the Skyliner go to?

Two. EPCOT, at the International Gateway, and Hollywood Studios. Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom are a bus from every Skyliner resort.

Is the Skyliner better than a bus?

For the two parks it goes to, our scores say yes at all four resorts: the lowest Skyliner score here is 6 out of 10, and a bus to the same park usually scores 3 to 5. It doesn’t run when there’s lightning nearby, and Disney puts buses on when that happens.
